Wickedly Dry

Well, summer school is in full swing, and so far its going ok. Would rather not be in school, but hey, beats sitting around letting my brain cells wither into nothing. This semester I am taking my second clinical and insurance coding....zzzzzzzzzzz. Yeah, insurance is not so fun! But it isn't too bad even with its never ending confusion. I have not been very motivated to do much this summer. Been lazy on getting homework done. Last semester wore me out a bit, even though that is a lousy excuse. Still working at wonderful Marsh. It's the greatest store in the world. **clears throat**...back to reality please.
Chris, Nat, Hannah, and I ventured down to Indiana Downs to visit Heather and watch the ponies run. It was a pleasant night. I did not have much fun watching the races because I was appauled at the condition of some of the horses running. So I hid behind Nat's camera and snapped some pictures, that I will try to download on here. We had a good time though. Hannah was not a happy camper on the drive back, but she eventually fell to sleep, literally. Just like that. She went from crying her lungs out, to crashing. It was kinda funny. I had to carefully move from the back of the van to the front. Knowing my luck, Nat would have hit a hole in the road and I would have knocked myself into Hannah making her go into endless round 2. But it was good. She slept the rest of the way home. Phew.

So are we in an official drought yet? Cause it sure feels like one. Jake has August hooves in June (although they were the same in way in May!) The corn is curling, and the beans are turning a lovely shade of yellow. Not to mention you take a step and you lift a huge cloud of dust outside. I ride Jake and I practically need a mask in order to breathe from all the dust he kicks up. Ugh. It can rain any day now!

So I wrote a letter to Jake's breeder...well the farm where his daddy was standing stud. Told them a few things about how of a good breeding program they must have, given the wonderful personality that Jake has. And also that I rescued this son of Meadowlake. I was shocked to receive a letter from them about how proud they are that his son was saved because Meadowlake was such a pleasant stallion (he passed a couple years ago). Given the response and the line of work that it is, they don't know much about the babies that come from their stallions. You could tell by the response that Meadowlake meant something to them. Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling all over! Ok, yeah, I need a life.

Well, I should go help Chris cook. He is grilling out some pork with a homemade rub he made. tasted super good. And my stomach is ready to have some of that. So, take care everyone!
