Spring time means fun time?

Well, one more final exam, and I am done...for two weeks at least. Taking a couple classes this summer as well so that I'm not overwhelmed fall semester. And honestly, with medical assisting, I need to go year round to stay practiced on my newly acquired skills. I can now take blood pressures and draw blood. Fancy stuff, I know. I will need to take my certification exam for phlebotomy, and lucky me, because my program got a grant, I wont have to pay the $85 to take it! But that is only for one attempt. If I dont pass, I have to start paying for the exams. So, I will need to continually work on this until that cert exam. Which I still have no idea when that will take place. So, some of you know how majorly stressed I was about my final practical in phlebotomy. Basically, if you didnt get blood, you flunked the class...irregardless of your current grade. I was stressed and my stomach was in knots a few minutes before my attempt. I had had several failed attempts, some ok attempts, and some attempts I was totally surprised about. But my first attempt was perfect...I got blood, and my procedure was correct from start to finish. I was so relieved to see that blood flowing into the tube. Never thought I would be so happy to see blood in my life! Felt like celebrating, which I realize some would think that would be silly. But to have all that stress slide off my shoulders was so awesome. My patient hardly felt it, and she was not bruised. Yeah!!! I have my written exam for that class tonight, and I am officially done with this semester. Phew. Been a long hard one. But I learned so much. And this summer I will learn so much more. I will get to give intramuscular injections and run EKGs. Fun fun! Although still hard, it makes more sense each passing semester, and day really.

So this is Derby weekend!!!! And honestly, this is an awesome field of horses and I am finding it hard to make my pick. But I made one! One of my friends from work is going to the race, and Chris and I are sending 2 $20 bets with her. Now that I am betting, I will surely lose. But this race is so up in the air this year, it was so hard to decide. Chris is going with the extremely speedy Hard Spun, and I am going with the early favorite and massive Curlin. So, now that they are totally jinxed, I will not reveal who else we bet on :-P.

I have been doing more riding this spring than I have in a while. And its been fun because Jake has been such a pleasure to ride! I have some pictures to post of him. He has been so sweet and workable that I am wondering where crazy hormonal Jake has gone. Not that I am complaining because I absolutely love this version! Love going to ride for a study break because he has taken some of my stress away. Its as if he knew. Now I am sure with finals about over he will become a tyrant. I hope not!

Some of you know that a couple years ago...wow...long time, that my parents bought a house near C-ville. Well, its sold! So long as the new owners dont back out, its gone. Goodbye. Finally! The same weekend the house was sold, I got rid of my car. Well, essentially. It was starting to drain me too much, and working less hours at work because of school led me to this decision. I bought my mom's '03 Jeep for what is owed (or close to) which has reduced my payments enough to help. But of course, the oil industry has saw fit that my plan of saving money needs to fail miserably, for what I gained in saving, is now blowing out of the car's exhaust. Figures. Then my car insurance went down, horse board went up, got rid of one other payment, and health insurance went up! See my luck? Sucks sometimes. Grrr. So with all this cutting back on payments, I ended up just where I started! Agh. **Throws arms in air and shakes head**

What else is new? Hmmm. Starting to realize that my life has not been overly exciting since February. Sorry! Well, I should get back to the books so that I can ace my last phlebotomy exam!
